The Nigerian music industry is definitely on fire this year, all trajectories are reset and level redefined.

From drowsy hip-hop to pitch-perfect pop, street-pop albums of all genres felt more profound than ever this 2019.

Synthesizing songs about Women, Money, Sex and calling for a revolution in every style of sound, the albums released this year went all-in on what matters.

Naijaloaded took out time to make a run down through the albums released this year, to pick out the 10 best albums that made a wave.

10. Zlatan – ZANKU

On November 1, 2019, Nigerian rapper, Zlatan released his debut album titled, Zanku. After so many Media hype and teasers.

The Album has received quite some horrible reviews from several media houses but with the stellar year, the singer has, in general, he took our 10th position.

However, there are some notable tracks, like “Super Power” “Omo Ologo” etc. that gave the album the needed edge to outdo some albums under review too.

9. Erigga – Erigma II

After 7 years of no album from the South-South biggest spitter Erigga, he took a sharp turn as he released his 3rd studio album titled “Erigma II

Erigma II is like a diary on poverty, crime, drugs, family, pain, struggle, love, sex, celebration and power.

The album is performing exceptionally well as it enclaves many potential hit tracks.

8. Yemi Alade – Woman Of Steel

Yemi Alade embodies strength and flaunts panache characteristics on her vigorous fourth studio album “Woman of Steel“.

She weaves through different genres and exhibits amazing dexterity, vocal power, emotional precision while commanding between songs.

Woman Of Steel” was considered for a possible Grammy 2020 nomination, but was let out for a reason best known to the recording academy.

7. Show Dem Cap – These Buhari Times

The Alte-duo, Show Dem Camp has grown an incredible reputation of consistency when it comes to project output.

In terms of consistency, prolificness and growth with every project, it is hard to see anyone on the shoulders of mainstream rap who have put in as much as SDC within the same time frame.

The album is yet again a reflection of their growth and how they seek to push for something extra with every release.

6. Peruzzi – Huncho Vibes

The DMW act, Peruzzi releases his 10-track debut album, “Huncho Vibez Vol. 1” and its an impeccable body of work.

Honestly, this album underlines everything good about Peruzzi’s talent, the vibes machine is definitely on a whole new level with this project.

5. Fireboy – Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps

The YBNL new act, Fireboy broke out to the industry with his powerful debut song “Jealous” which gave him the needed platform to soar high in the game.

His first album “Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps” is an album with all shade of perfection. A classical sonic project coming from a new act like Fireboy is something that was captivating to Nigerian music exec.

The tracks on the album clouded the Apple music charts for several weeks, and that’s a milestone a very rare breed of a new act can achieve.

4. Simi – Omo Charlie Champagne

Early 2019, the award-winning Nigerian songbird, Simi releases her sophomore studio album, Omo Charlie Champagne and it also falls on her birthday.

The project “Omo Charlie Champagne” sees Simi showcasing her vocal skills and penchant for writing the type of sweet and addictive melodies that have made her a star.

The album has a whole lot of amazing tracks performing well individually off the albums.

3. Davido – A Good Time

After going on an album hiatus for over 7 years, Davido finally broke the jinx with this amazingly well written and crafted album titled “A Good Time

The album contains 17 well written and listed tracks featuring both local and International artiste across the world. Davido definitely had a swell good time while formulating those tunes.

Since the release of the album “A Good Time“, a lot of records has been smashed and charts tore apart. AGT is our 3rd best album released this year.

2. Falz – Moral Instruction

The Falz highly controversial socio-conscious album titled “Moral Instruction” made it to our No. 2 spot on the best albums of 2019.

“Moral Instruction” is the first album to be released in the year 2019, when political, economic and societal issues are on the rise.

Tracks like “Talk” & “Hypocrite” became a very popular activism theme song amidst Nigerians, the 9 tracks album garners a huge virality throughout the first quarter of the year.

1. Burna Boy – African Giant

Clear road for the best album of the year. NO CAP! “African Giant” is over worthy of this position.

Not even focusing mainly on the Burna Boy’s “African Giant” Grammy Award Nomination as an edge, the album is an all-round perfect and amazing album that perfectly represent Nigeria and Africa at large.

The album garners a whole lot of attention to the current occurrences happening in this part of the world.

The “Ye” singer definitely is making the whole Black race proud with this album, and we appreciate him.

It is the most digitally streamed album in Nigeria this year 2019, I can’t argue go and ask Spotify… 🤔
